Back to School with Notion’s Latest Launches

Creators play a big role at Notion, so we’re excited to officially welcome Angela, the newest addition to the creator team!! 🎉 She’s here to build alongside Danielle and keep everything creators and influencers running smoothly, aka Danielle finally has some backup! Angela is a BIG matcha fan, so any upcoming matcha-related events might be her idea…

It’s been a huge week for Notion too. We launched Notion Mail on iOS, rolled out support for 18+ languages, and added offline mode. Basically, more ways to make Notion work however, wherever, and whenever you want.

And finally, a little inspiration from our community: we got inspired by @filmwcolleen’s creator tip of the week, where she explained what a “Juni” is and how Notion has an infinite amount of them. Check out her section and find your own Juni!

Until next time!

School-Ready Student Templates

We know getting ready for a new school year can feel overwhelming, so we wanted to highlight a few Back to School Templates to help you start the year prepared!

Your Student Planner

Lay out your school schedule, track assignments, and plan your week—all on one page. This template was created by a student based on their own experience, designed to be simple, functional, and easy to customize for different academic needs.

Your Homework Template

Hopefully the first few weeks won’t be too heavy on the homework, but you can use this time to get it organized. Use this template to stay on top of assignments, track all the work you’ve done, and hit “Done” when you’re totally over it.

Content Creation Hack with Notion AI

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “This is taking way longer than it should, there has to be a better way,” that’s your cue to see if AI can help!

We shared a video of Notion AI in action and how to go from a messy brainstorm to a full content calendar in minutes. The idea: take your other Notion pages, maybe ones you created from AI Meeting Notes, add your style guidelines or feed it your tone, and let Notion AI draft content and add it straight to your calendar for you.

Try it yourself with this prompt: “Hey! Can you help me turn this meeting [@-meeting notes] into social posts on our calendar? Use our style guidelines [@-guidelines].”

Notion Mail Is Now on iOS… and in 18+ Languages

Creator Tip of the Week by @filmwcolleen

The Juni effect: use Notion for more.

One of my favourite “creative human moments” is when people find ways to use a product for it’s intended purpose AND then more.

Example:
When I move to a new city, I like to buy small things from Facebook Marketplace to get to know the neighborhood and its people. So when I moved to Montreal for a summer internship, I did just that. I ended up buying a fig plant from a girl named Juni. Juni became a friend for that summer, she represented to me, a creative human moment.

Facebook marketplace became:
1. a tool to buy needed home items (what I call functional use case).
2. a way to explore a new city + connect with humans (what I call a Juni).

In the product world, they call it “edge cases”. What else are people using our product for? In my world, I call it a Juni.

Notion is one of those tools that has an infinite amounts of Juni’s. One of the best Juni’s I found myself using Notion for was: emotionally moving, curated event invites.

I recently hosted a creative retreat in Brazil with 11 women with attendees such as Liah Yoo, CEO of Krave Beauty and Shorty Award Winner Grace Wells. Without any context, text, or phone call, I linked them this Notion page. Without hesitation, all 11 women said yes and a few months later, we were dancing in Brazil together.

I made a short reel about it here:

My creator tip for you: find your Juni’s by leveraging Notion.

Other Notion Juni’s for creators:

Photography gallery → my photographer friend, Ying uses Notion to send her client photos with curated playlists that delivers an experience.

Usage-rights tracker → In your Projects or Deliverables database, add Start date / End date / Territory / Media. A formula can flag anything expiring in <30 days so you can renew (or invoice overage).

Sponsorship menu page → Track your past partners, current conversations, and dream sponsorship list all in one place. This helps me get clear on the contacts I have in the industry.

Link in bio → use Notion as your personalized link in bio for free.

Portfolio → pitch brands and clients by building your portfolio on Notion. You can also just link this portfolio in your bio and update it once in a while.

Block Haus Ep. 4 Recap

Hosted and written by Josiah

This past Friday, the Notion NY community gathered at the Welcome to Chinatown hub for Block Haus Ep. 4 (Artists Edition). Block Haus is a monthly collaboration series where the Notion New York community comes together to focus on their passion projects, co-work and share new ideas with each other.

This event featured the creative team from 5x5 Collective who opened their first experimental gallery show, ancient://technology on the LES for the month of August.

Nikhil Kumar, co-founder of 5x5 and designer Will Takao Eliot shared behind the scenes of the curating the gallery show and discussed the philosophy at the heart of 5x5 as they take bets on unconventional projects and people. If you’re in New York, you can check out an artist talk or stop by the gallery this month!

And if you’ve never been to a Notion community event before — follow the Notion NY Luma calendar to join us at an upcoming gathering.
